Customized Usability Consulting

Not sure what usability consulting you need? No problem. I offer customized usability consulting whether you are looking for help on one page or for an entire major corporate web site. Just contact me and we’ll review your needs and come up with a usability review that meets your objectives, and helps you meet your web site goals.

Usability Testing

In addition to the usability reviews, I also offer 1-on-1 performance-based usability testing sessions. These usability testing sessions are usually conducted in person, and include testing your web site with actual users who match the typical users (called Personas) that interact with your web site.

These sessions are recorded using simultaneous screen capture and audio / video of the user interacting with your site. Sessions are reviewed to determine where in the task flow there are hurdles that cause users to slow down or abandon the task. The usability testing analysis includes a thorough review of the usability issues plus recommendations for improvements to increase your web site performance.

The Benefits of Usability

Hiring a usability consultant is the best money you can spend on your web site, much better than using the same amount of money on online advertising. Why? Because unlike online advertising, making usability improvements reduces your cost per sale over the lifetime of your web site. The same amount of money spent on online advertising may cause a temporary increase in the number of sales, but after the advertising campaign is completed, sales will once again fall, and thus your cost per sale is fixed.

However, by optimizing your web site with usability improvements that increase conversion, the one-time cost of the usability project is defrayed over the months and years that your web site is operational, causing a decrease in your total cost per sale that will result in major savings as the sales increase.
